I'm really torn about the All-New All-Different Marvel re-launch.  For some series it's disrupting stories that that barely got off the ground like Spider-Gwen, Ant-Man, and All-New Hawkeye.  Even Amazing Spider-Man had little time after the Spider-Verse event before it got upended.

My real problem though is with the slate of new titles.  Waid's Avengers is falling flat to me.  Slott's Amazing Spider-Man became a boring version of Tony Stark.  And it's ironic that Invincible Iron Man by Bendis is one of my favorite titles right now.  I'm still eagerly awaiting some titles that won't come until early 2016 like Black Panther, Black Widow, Spider-Man (Miles Morales), and Moon Knight.  But for once my pull list might be getting light on Marvel titles...

This is an optimistically titled blog post, the "Series 1" part specifically.  What started as a Kickstarter-to-IDW series grew from 5 to 6 issues as the story proved more ambitious than originally thought.

I was psyched at the very beginning.  Post-apocalyptic diesel punk aerial combat?  YES, PLEASE!  My enthusiasm was blunted by a drawn out, irregular release schedule.  What we got in the end was a six-issue that serves as an origin story for a core cast of characters as opposed to an individual.

Even after all that I'm still glad that I invested in the journey.  Here's hoping that a series 2 makes its ways to stores.  The sooner the better.

Got around to watching the pilot for Constantine.  I have to say that I pretty much enjoyed it.  I can give people their points for complaints about the lack of cigarettes and other little character details.  Perhaps I haven't read as far back in Hellblazer as others to really apprciate these points.

I haven't followed DC closely.  But there seems to be a theme of going with darker titles especially about villains.  Sinestro and Red Lanterns are both Green Lantern properties that are doing well by not focusing on the emerald heroes.  Coming up are Deathstroke and Lobo.  Templesmith is drawing a new Bat title, Gotham by Midnight, will have a horror focus.

This week was very uneven for me.  It was either really good (Sex Criminals, Original Sin), or really bad (Punisher, Red City).  Not much in between.  If you plotted the goodness on the x axis then the regression on the y axis would look more like a saddle than a normal curve.

I'm on my way to Free Comic Book Day.  I don't have high hopes though.  I moved in the last year and my last LCS had a festival of guest creators, cosplayers, props, etc.  My new LCS is much smaller so I don't expect them to put on quite the same level of show.  But I'll give it a try.

As of last week I dropped Green Lantern from my pull list.  I've been pulling it since I started collecting a year ago but lost interest after Geoff Johns left the writing duties.  Now I have no DC titles on my pull list.  It's very Marvel/Image heavy.  There are a few DC titles that I find interesting: Swamp Thing, Superman Unchained, and sometimes Action/Detective Comics are entertaining.  But DC isn't making anything that I feel is a must have right now.  I tried some recent titles like Larfleeze and Harley Quinn but neither kept my attention either.
