Miles Morales: Spider-Man #1

I just love Miles Morales; he is one of my favourite characters, to the point that I can't choose between him and Peter for who is my favourite. I am so glad to finally be reading this series, it has such a great creative team. Saladin Ahmed is an incredible writer. Javier Garron is an incredible artist. I can't wait to read more of this title.

The narration of this issue is Miles writing in his new journal; which he is made to write in for his Creative Writing class, but is actually now enjoying it. No one is allowed to read another's journal or else they automatically fail the class. Miles feels pretty good about no one reading this journal; so he is writing all his secrets in it. We get a quick retelling of Miles story up to this point; leaving out where he was from a different world originally where his Mom was killed. Speaking of Miles parents, I'm glad they both know his identity now.

We see that the relationship between Miles and Barbara has been building up nicely; Miles joins her on a Saturday while she babysits her little cousin Eduardo. Miles catches a robbery in action, the group doing it doesn't speak and they're all smaller people. The Rhino shows up and wants "Kid Spider-Man" to head home. Miles assumes that Rhino is in charge of this, but it turns out he isn't; Rhino was there to find his missing niece. Rhino did go down the good path more recently in Amazing Spider-Man, so I'm glad that just wasn't thrown away. Miles catches up to the robbers with Rhino and unmasks one of them; it turns out to be Eduardo, so we can assume this group is made of kids. The issue ends with Eduardo shocking and knocking both miles and Rhino out.

This was great. I can't wait to read more!
