Marauders #9 Review
March 4th, 2020

Like this weeks issue of Excalibur, i feel that this issue has slipped away slightly in terms of the quality of previous issues. Where this series still comes out ahead is the writing and the ongoing mixture of high adventure, action, political manipulations and intrigue. But with this series, and where a couple of the other new X titles have failed, Duggan is managing to tell his story with solid character development mixed in perfectly with the action. This is by no means the best book in the X-Men line over the last few months, but the writing style along with that of Hickman in some of the other books is proving to fit in well with what a lot of X-Men fans will consider the golden age of Claremont's writing. Vast sweeping storlines with subplots within subplots that may or may not be resolved anytime soon or even ever. He's nowhere near Claremont yet, but these books are showing that sort of potential.

Sorry, do you mean Gerry Duggan's writing?

Haha yes. I had a brain fart there. I meant to say how his writing mixes in with Hickman's. Thanks for pointing out my error. Have Hickman on the brain when it comes to the X books right now.

All good! It happens to all of us. Hickman's still Head of X after all, so his influence is undeniable.
