I was wondering what some of you think about variant covers.  I have mostly avoided variant covers, but recently I have purchased a couple variants including a one-per-store variant.  For the most part I usually do not want to spend more money to purchase a comic just because it has a different cover.

Probably like a lot of people I'm bored of them. Just because a variant cover used to be something special. but now its just a standard thing. Although sometimes you do get some stunning variants the best ones tend to be low print runs or exclusives so you tend not to be able to get them unless you're willing to pay several times the cover price. When it comes to new comics each week I buy whichever regular priced cover I like most but usually the "A" cover.

Just got back from the comic shop.  The owner told me he might not be able to get me a copy of Batman #89.  Batman is on my pull list, but Diamond messed up the order.  Diamond put the wrong shipping label on the order and set it to a completely different state.  When the owner final got the order, it was completely ruined. He said it looked like a forklift had run over the box.  When he contacted Diamond, they told him that they were completely sold out of the first and second prints and do not know if they can fulfill the order.

Hello fellow league members.  Did anyone else see this listing on ComicConnect?  Apparently this comic book was rumored to exist, but has never come up for sale or auction.  As of right now it is the only known copy of Manhunt #12 to exist.  The comic also contains artwork by Frank Frazetta.  If any rich league members are interested, the current bidding is still under $2,000 dollars.

I am just re-upping this post because it seems to have disappeared for some reason.  I was not finding it when I was scrolling through the community comments.

Has any one else seen this article on Bleeding Cool?  A comic book store in Florida purchased a former customer's comic book collection and it contained over 40,000 comics and covers a 70 year time span.  I recently passed the 1100 mark after several years of collecting.  I do not think I will be catching up any time soon.

I saw that! Even though my collection is just over 15,000 ... I can't imagine reaching 40k in my lifetime. Been collecting for 38 years or so... my math isn't so good but that means I'd need to keep going at the same pace for another 45 + years!

I read an interesting article today in the Washington Examiner today about the importance of comic stores in creating a sense of community.  I am including a link if anyone else is interested in reading the article.
