Folklords #3
Folklords #3 Review
March 15th, 2020
This review contains spoilers. Proceed at your own risk.

It’s been quite a while since I read issues #1 and 2, a few months I’d say but I read my previous reviews and remembered pretty much everything that had happened and been set up.

I really like this issue, probably my favorite thus far.  Given that the girl’s name was Greta and they found that house, it should have been a dead giveaway who she was in the last issue, but it really didn’t hit me until this one.

I like the dark twists this issue took.  I didn’t think Archer would have actually died and they would have been reunited somehow.  I like that ‘Ugly’, as I don’t think we learned her name, told Ansel that Archer had betrayed him and run off with Greta.  It was all done in a really cool way.

I also have to say the dialogue in this is done very well from beginning to end.  I didn’t care for Ansel’s narration and the verbiage chosen for it, but it wasn’t a huge detractor overall.

All the revelations are very well done and I’m loving the mystery and lore in this book.  It’s perfectly done where it leaves you wanting to read more.

I’m dying to know about the Folklords and about this world they live in.  I’m curious about the library of banned books.  It looks like one of Ansel’s other friends from back home has also joined them on the adventure and has found her way to where they’re going.  What are her motivations?  Can’t wait to read the next issue.
