Captain Marvel: The End #1

I enjoyed this significantly more than the Venom and Miles Morales issues.

As a whole I find Kelly Thompson’s writing to be pretty average and this issue fit that.  There’s some things I liked a lot in this.  Unlike the Miles Morales issue, this was a proper send off for a character.  Even though I may not follow or be a fan of Captain Marvel, this death felt emotional and powerful.

The narration was very good throughout this issue.

The big thing for me is that I’m not familiar with a lot of Captain Marvel history or lore, and I was pretty unfamiliar with many of the characters introduced outside of Emma and Rogue/Gambit’s daughter.  This threw me off the issue because there was a lot of dialogue around introducing old friends and new characters and I just didn’t quite care as much.

Overall, this was still a solid issue and the ending was great.
