    Comic Geeks Mobile Update 2.0

For over 6 years, League of Comic Geeks has served the comic book community by making it easier to keep track of all the latest releases, for free. Today marks a big shift in the way we support the community. Our new mobile companion app will bring new and long-time readers together to share and discuss their favorite titles with modern social networking tools. This update is now available on Android and iOS.

Here's a sneak peek at what you can expect in the Comic Geeks mobile companion app:

    The Comic Geeks Community

Your profiles are here! Many of the community features have made their way to the mobile companion app. Just as you're able to on the web-based app, you can check out community member profiles. From there, follow your friends and those that you're interested in hearing more from.

With the Community & Following Feeds, keep up-to-date with all of their latest discussions, reviews, posts, and more. And of course, get in-app notifications when someone has responded to a comment or post of yours.

Then with the new Dashboard, see the Community Pick of the Week (mobile voting is coming soon), your pulls this week, featured comics, and trending discussions.

    Revamped Comic Lists

Go beyond your collection and check out the full extent of any series with new, beautiful series pages. See which issues you're missing and subscribe to add upcoming issues to your pull list. Then, from the individual issue pages - see what the rest of the community thinks with aggregated ratings, discussions, and activity.

This is just the beginning for lists in the new Comic Geeks 2.0 mobile companion app. You'll find a lot of little touches like the ability to quickly and easily narrow any listed based on formats, search keywords, and more. You'll find it's never been easier to browse our massive library with over 150,000 comics.

    Other Improvements

While the revamped comic lists and community features are the big highlights with this latest update, you'll be pleased to hear there have been a number of improvements across the board.

One such improvement ensures your comics are synced between your mobile companion app and the web-based app here. And while syncing will continue to be refined in the future, you now have the ability to completely reset data and restore all of your comics if any problems should arise.

The Barcode Scanner has been updated to include a setting so you can turn on or off the ability for scanned comics to be immediately added to your collection. This way you can review them or add them to a different list.

    Coming Soon

With tons of community features, expect to see new faces in the feeds and discussions. The League of Comic Geeks is filled with passionate comic book readers - some you may not always agree with or the type of content they share. Don't worry - we totally understand those that want privacy and the ability to block others. Private profiles and posts are coming.

You'll also see a bevy of new updates to improve the way you engage with the community, such as a like button and image sharing.

Last, but not least... we know you want your comic details migrated to the mobile companion app! Soon, you'll be able to add and update your purchase date, quantity, grading, notes, tags, and more just as you do on LeagueofComicGeeks.com.

With this new update, we have laid the foundation for things to come. Expect more frequent, smaller updates in the coming months and years. In the meantime, check out the latest update and let us know what you think and how we can improve. If you have a chance, rate us in the app store.

  • Now you can take your Comic Collection and Pull List anywhere

    Comic Geeks App

It's been a long time coming, but we finally have our first mobile app completed and available to the public. The Comic Geeks Android app brings everything you love about the website to Android tablets and phones. Browse recent and upcoming releases, catalog your collection, maintain a pull list, wish list, and read list. Check out the latest reviews from the community and comic bloggers. And of course, rate issues you've recently read.

Via the mobile app, League of Comic Geeks members can easily log in and pull down their comic data to manage on the go. Don't have an account yet? That's fine, you can create one on the app. Once you've logged in, your device will sync as it needs to and allow you to view and manage your comics even when offline. The next time you connect to a network, it will sync your changes with the website. It was important to us that you could update your lists on your phone or tablet when you visit a comic book store or attend a convention.

You can download the Comic Geeks Android app on the Google Play store today, free and without any ads or restrictions.

Not an Android user? Fret not, iOS and Windows phone versions are due for release real soon. We'll announce when they're available.

We'd like to thank our testing groups for sharing their feedback and bug reports. The first Android release feels a lot more responsive thanks to your efforts. In the coming months, we will be improving the app with even more features and listening to your feedback and suggestions to incorporate them to create a better experience.

  • What's New on League of Comic Geeks

The old League of Comic Geeks wasn't cutting it for us. It was too slow, too inefficient, it looked dated and more importantly it wasn't intuitive. That's why we've spent the past year retooling everything with a vision around some big ideas. What you see before you is a new beginning for the site. This is League of Comic Geeks version 3.0, focused squarely on helping you discover new comics and managing your pull list and collection.

As you browse the site, you'll see many of those changes, both big and small. From new filters for your comic collection to a revamp of the Dashboard, we've tweaked a lot. So much that there's far too much to detail here on our blog. Instead, let's discuss some of the new features you'll notice.

Contributions: Comic Book Information Curated by the Community

    contributions system

Over the past three years, our comic book database has grown dramatically thanks to a couple hardworking individuals. Today, we're opening that up to you. Nearly everything you see here will be community-driven via our new "Contributions" system, that functions similarly to a Wiki. Can't find a specific comic? Add it. See a comic missing an artist, cover or listed with the wrong price? Now you can correct it to improve the experience for everyone.

For newer members, our moderators will review your contributions and ensure they're added to the database. Quality is important to us and we're here to help. Every new piece of data you provide will earn you "Contribution Points". With enough points under your belt, you'll gain access to update pages immediately without requiring moderation. You'll see these links to submit corrections throughout the site. After you're done with your changes, you'll be able to review your submissions in the Contributions area of your profile (shown above).

We're pretty pleased with how it's turned out so far, but we'll continue to refine this system over time with your help. Don't be shy about submitting feedback and suggestions.

My Verdict: Community Ratings & Recommendations

Our community review system has been around for quite some time. It was a good start, but we understand that sometimes writing a lengthy review is impractical and it's certainly not for everyone. So with this latest release, you'll now see a "My Verdict" box underneath the consensus scores on each comic detail page. Here, you can easily give a thumbs up or thumbs down, contributing to the Community Consensus and letting your friends and followers know what you thought of it. If you'd prefer to write a full review, you'll have that option as well.

And that barely scratches the surface for what we have planned with this new feature. We'll talk more about it in the coming months, we don't want to give it all away just yet!

Collectibles: Your Collection of Toys, Statues & more

    new collectibles feature

Our love for comics extends into comic book collectibles. From action figures to statues and busts. We love to show off our collectibles and know you want to as well. That's why with this release we're launching the first iteration of the My Collectibles feature. You can now browse comic book collectibles from the database and add them to your collection. These will show up on your profile, so you can share your collection with your friends and followers.

At this time, the collectible database is in its infancy. Our moderators  In time, it will grow and we'll implement the contribution system there as well so you'll be able to catalog everything you want to.

    So... What's Next?

Thanks to your feedback, we have a lot of great ideas for the Pull List system. We want to give you tools to effectively manage the titles you're pulling each month. We've got some cool reports in development that will help you monitor your spending habits. We're also working on an additional view for the Pull List to give you a way to print out your list and hand it off to your local comic book store.

After those additions, we'll review your feedback and make our way through the most requested improvements.

As always, feel free to click the button on the right-hand side to launch the Feedback & Support system to share your ideas.
