Wait didn't we already have a comic named "Batman: Black and White", I'm still missing parts of THAT series, please DC Reprint the old "Batman: Black and White" series.
There have been two Batman: Black & White mini series, one in 1996 and the other in 2013. They were also a backup feature in the Batman: Gotham Knights series for a few years. They have all been collected in some form.
Wow. The comic store I use for mail order has just queried why I'm reducing my standing order with them. Difficult to find a non snarky way of pointing out that an order they apparently sent me two weeks ago with 1st class postage only just arrived today. On top of that it contains Suicide Squad #5 when they actually sent me #8 last week. They've also had books listed on their site as new releases which i have ordered but they've then turned around and said they never actually received them. I absolutely hate my local comic book shop but they have reopened now so at least I can actually see that the books are there and exist before I pay for them.
Yeah I feel bad. Never had any major issues with them pre covid. I get that they're probably strained with an increase to mail orders but I've used them for years. I don't expect to be at the bottom of the queue for reorders when they don't order enough of a book I have on my standing order. I especially don't expect to wait 3 months for that replacement and for i tto then take another 2 weeks to get to me. Hopefully get back to work in Glasgow before too long so i can start going to the good comic store rather than the crap one here in Edinburgh.
@ObsessedNerd I think it's UK thing, my lcs has had issues out of sequence, not turn up at all etc. I asked and they said it's a bit of perfect storm, dc not using diamond, COVID delaying books and now the fires in West Coast America are affecting the printing. Not sure if all that's true as some places have all the issues
I believe this is the final issue of the series anyway, the writer here also did a fill in issue #13 I believe which was a good filler issue, apparently Johns was never meant to be on it for good. (Or a long time) Honestly wish they made it a limited series instead, since they are cancelling it anyway
This is the last one, I think I few of these titles were meant to lead to something that is now cancelled. Black Adam in this, the hawkman book basically had a jsa issue. I think these were meant to tie in getting jsa back (given that John's had a 9 year run on jsa) but not sure if that em would have been under the now cancelled 5g banner
Oh that's interesting, I just assumed they were going to do what they did with Red Hood and have another writer on Shazam continue the series, where did you hear that Jeff Loveness was only going to write the last issue of this series?
'If' he really is just writing "Shazam! #15" and not anymore, then I won't cancel this comic from my pulllist at my LCS.
I don't think Johns has the time to commit to a regular book anyway does he? Look at the delays we saw on Doomsday Clock. Wasn't this series also significantly delayed several times?
With Geoff Johns I would wait, but if the series is not ending? I'll have to cancel my pulllist at the end of Geoff's run, since I only started reading this because Geoff Johns was doing a great job, honestly I feel this would fit perfectly on DC's New All Ages line.
Definitely worth the wait. Very little the guy writes isn't quality. But I don't think DC can keep an ongoing book on their schedule which they will only be able to publish as and when he has time to write it. Not saying that's why the series is ending. But I'd be surprised if we see him committing to an ongoing again any time soon.
So I am just coming to read this issue as it's my first experience with the title. OMG!!! Why didn't anyone I know suggest this to me? I need new friends. Lol
I suggest you also look into Coffin Hill by Caitlin Kitteridge ... Which this a near copy of. In fact, when Rucka released this... Coffin Hill was abruptly concluded and cancelled. The beginning is way way too similar not to see the shift to a writer with a bigger name. ...... So. Check out Coffin Hill.
I think it went off most people's radar as issue 11 was in 2016 I think so it's been a long while coming, I think most assumed it wasn't coming back, I know I did. It gives me hope for a return of invisible Republic.
My local store is working on expanding, hopefully it'll be open Wed. If it is, I'm getting -
Batman #99 (Nightwing variant hopefully)
Catwoman #25
Billionaire Island #6
Dead Day #3
Excalibur #12
Giant Sized X-Men: Storm (Alex Ross variant)
Hellions #4
Seven Secrets #2
Slaughterhouse-Five
Stillwater #1 (Chip Zdarsky? Yes please)
Thor #7
X-Men #12
Stillwater has my attention because of Chip Zdarsky (loving his Daredevil), and the premise looks interesting. Slaughterhouse-Five is my favorite Vonnegut book, hoping this adaptation lives up to it.
Hopefully Death Metal Trinity Crisis from last week as my shop didn't get enough so ordered some more.
Still waiting for Dead Planet #3 to show up in the UK but no signs of it yet.
Also there was an issue on the UK side with Marvel comics this week as my LCS isn't getting any and seems like other UK stores aren't either, which sucks as this is basically the only week of the month i'm getting Marvel comics (New issues of Thor and Venom) haha but oh well, they're only delayed to next week so better late than never.
Yeah not great but oh well just a couple extra comics to look forward to next week haha. Still super excited for JL, been looking forward to it for a while, plus Batman should be awesome, also eager to finally get my hands on Trinity Crisis so should still be a good week despite the Marvel delays.
Ctoo many events. I wish Joker war wasn't going on at the same time as Death Metal I would pick up most of those tie ins. My shop was saying Justice League will be pivitol to Death Metal so I am on for those issues.
It's been tricky to keep up with for sure. But easier thanks to this place and you folks. But happy some of them are wrapping up so I can drop the tie-in books.
Hello All! I'm still exited about the Alex Ross/Timeless Variants being released this month. I'm also looking forward to the beginning of: X of Swords and Iron Man #1. Busy week!
Captain America #23 Captain America #23B (Alex Ross Timeless Variant) Excalibur #12 Giant Size X-Men: Storm (Alex Ross Timeless Variant) Immortal Hulk #37B (Alex Ross Timeless Variant) Iron Man #1 Iron Man #1B (Alex Ross Timeless Variant) Thor #7 X-Men #12
It's hit, and miss, but when it hits, it really hits. Though we had that Snowflame story, and now Ram V is taking over, when Ram V writes Catwoman, it is always fun(He did a couple of fill in issues, and his was some of the best.)
That was a trully terrible comic book. I used to love this series but i dropped it along time ago because Humpries took what was a darkly comedic and quite complex character and turned it into a really crap 1950's...
Oh the ongoing used to be amazing when it was Palmiotti and Connor writing and drawing it. Even if you aren't a fan of them you have to acknowledge that their work on the book was a big part of her rise in popularity over recent years. Even going back to the original 2000's series that was great as well. Its just when Humpries took it over this volume that it got crap.
I've only ever cared for her in the Batman Adventures cartoon and that line of comics. I might go for a comic where she goes on a road trip with Foghorn Leghorn.
Another interesting issue of the DCeased: Dead Planet series. Last issue left me a little underwhelmed, this one was different, more just whelmed. It’s only the third issue, I greatly admire the amount of storytelling...
I suggested that this takes place before Death Metal, so I doubt you would have to do that. It looks like this event stands on it's own as like a fill in event to be honest.
More Dark Nights: Death Metal! SIGH! Stop it already.... wait a second... Doctor Light... aka Kimiyo Hoshi and Steel! On a team? With Kamandi?... WTF? and what the hell do they mean with original Batman?
The Batman from Detective Comics #27 in 1939. The team is made up of characters from all over the timeline. This is an orphan comic of the no longer happening 5G initiative.
I feel like women should be put on the same level as men are, if you see women as more importent then men, then don't read this blog. Hey I'm a woman and I love comics I love Comics the way they are, Diverse, Existing, Action Pact, a Visual Medium with vast univserses of characters that never gets old, a mecca of ideas and stories that writer after writer builds on with respect, but more importently...
I mean this is a major event in Donny Cates' Venom run, so if you're into that I would, but if you're not bothered about his run then fair enough to each their own I guess.
Not sure what you mean? But I feel like he makes too many one-shots and I never know what I have to read to get what is going on in his main Venom comic or what I can skip. I've been liking most of his main Venom series, but some of the minis and one shots, haven't been that good, unnecessary or just forgettable.
Well I was just sort of saying this is really everything Donny has been building up to since the start of his run. It's all been about Knull, the whole idea of "God Is Coming", after all this time and build up Knull is finally coming to Earth as Donny has teased all along. Did you read Absolute Carnage? Because that was the main setup for this really, when at the end of that event Knull gets released and starts heading to Earth.

This Is tempting to start getting into. Here is the collected omnibus edition: here.

I think you're right. Definitely something going on with the imports. I think there's been one week where everything came that was meant to.
WTF DC! Why did you remove Geoff Johns? Do you really want me to cancel even more of your comics from my pull?
Why are you killing everything I love?
I believe this is the final issue of the series anyway, the writer here also did a fill in issue #13 I believe which was a good filler issue, apparently Johns was never meant to be on it for good. (Or a long time) Honestly wish they made it a limited series instead, since they are cancelling it anyway

Stillwater is something that looks fantastic but I'm not sure I can add it.
Batman #99
Justice League #53
Seven Secrets #2
Hopefully Death Metal Trinity Crisis from last week as my shop didn't get enough so ordered some more.
Still waiting for Dead Planet #3 to show up in the UK but no signs of it yet.

Good list stinks you aren't getting Marvel books there. This is my main Marvel week with the 2 Star Wars books and Donny Cates books.

Haha yeah, like Death Metal seems to be wrapping up in the same month King in Black is starting over at Marvel so that's convenient!
Another slow week for me but I'm very excited about Finger Guns, which has been one of the two or three best books I've read this year.
Jim Henson's Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance #11
Finger Guns #5
Cool I will have to check that out in trades.
Still waiting on Hawkman from last weeks shipment so hopefully this week. Regular stuff for this week will be:
Cool Very Marvel of you!!
Drum roll please.........
Now there might be something I pick up randomly. But most of the stuff that was set for wednesday was pushed to another day.
At least it's a reason to go to the shop.
I help out at the store once in a while but there are always new things coming that I don't have pulled.

Cool have you been reading Catwoman long? Has it been good?
It's hit, and miss, but when it hits, it really hits. Though we had that Snowflame story, and now Ram V is taking over, when Ram V writes Catwoman, it is always fun(He did a couple of fill in issues, and his was some of the best.)
Batman #99
X-Men #12
Immortal hulk #37
Excalibur #12
Hellions #4
Thor #7
might pick up Iron Man #1. Cant be any worse than the 2020 series but that was so bad it might have put me off Iron man for life.
I loved that
I disagree completely. The only times she's ever had good comics was this ongoing, and the Kesel run. Everything else isn't fit for shelving.
I was never a big cartoon fan even back then. But the Harley episodes were really good fun.
Hmm yeah interesting stuff, can't wait to get a copy eventually, good review!
Two timelines! Is this Dark Nights: Death Metal?
I'm guessing like all the fill in stories this takes place before Death Metal, precisely when is unclear though
Well if I have to read all the Dark Nights: Death Metal comics to understand this, I'm just going to skip this.
Two timelines as in
One part of the story takes place in the "present day"
The other part takes place a thousand years ago when Black Adam and friends saved everyone from the Frost King
It has nothing to do with Death Metal
Ohhhh right haha that makes sense. Knew this had nothing to do with Death Metal but didn't know what the two timelines thing was but fair enough.
A nice start to Venditti's rebirth run, I liek the rivalry between Hal and Sinestro and Guy is always good for a lugh.
Is Jonah Hex coming back soon? Also this girl looks too pretty to be his daughter so WTF! And who is her mother?
It's his descendant, so great-great-great-granddaughter or something like that
Jim Shooter's follow-up to Valiant
I feel like women should be put on the same level as men are, if you see women as more importent then men, then don't read this blog. Hey I'm a woman and I love comics I love Comics the way they are, Diverse, Existing, Action Pact, a Visual Medium with vast univserses of characters that never gets old, a mecca of ideas and stories that writer after writer builds on with respect, but more importently...
Too much Venom... Am I getting this... I don't know.
