Energy engineer Adrian Morales and geologist Robert Holman, co-creators of We Promised Utopia, are fascinated by the possibility of humans transforming the global economy to save civilization from climate change. During long car rides, they talked about technology, finance, and carbon capture; the seed was planted for We Promised Utopia. Under the exacting pen of writer Charles J. Martin, that seed grew into a sci-fi epic centered around charismatic idealist Isabel Bari and her development of the ECC (Equivalent Carbon Credit) to tie every element of the global economy to a carbon-based currency.
