Scout
In Tim Truman’s futuristic Western, Scout is an Apache summoned by the supernatural Gahn to defeat four monsters who are currently in positions of power in the USA (including the presidency). Forewarned by Scout’s killing of the first monster, the President sends two of Scout’s army-training friends (Rosanna Winter and Raymond Vaughan) to kill him. Operating in a world of ecological disaster and social disintegration, Scout has killed the monsters by the end of #6. He goes on to become a rallying point for the hungry and discontented people, accompanied by a spiritual leader, Doody, whose bible is The Lord of the Rings. By #14, Doody is dead and Scout has been wounded and captured by Winter, but her allegiances have been shaken by contact with an Israeli secret agent who tells her about the real effects of the U.S. policies she’s supporting. Teamed up with Monday the Eliminator (after they’ve fought each other through the 3-D Special, issue #16), Scout winds up in the middle of a global war (#20–24).
