What do y'all think of this Empyre thing? Marvel has some event every month these days but this does sound exciting. My wallet isn't so sure though.
I am SUPER excited! This is one of those events that is going to pay off a lot of stories and character development from years past, particularly that of the Young Avengers who are my favorite Marvel team. I'm a big fan of Hulkling so the fact he is front and center for this event is awesome. In terms of wallet I'm okay only because I've dropped all but one thing from DC so it frees me up to get as much of this event as I want. This is definitely an event where you have to like the characters or the continuity involved to be super hyped and well that's me for both. I cant freaking wait!
hmmmm. I dunno. There's way too many tie ins. We'll see.
I mean simply dont buy the tie ins. Marvels done so many of these it should be common understanding / routine to just stick to the main series and any tie ins you may or may not want. Most are separate tie in miniseries and one shots anyway. I for one am super excited for this event. One of my most anticipated from Marvel this year. I'm getting the main series and going over the tie ins to see what I want. I already have a few on my list.
It cheapens the event when they flood the shelves as hard as they do imo.
I don't care about the tie-ins. I can follow and enjoy the story without them and not get all tizzy about how many tie-ins marvel is creating. I won't buy them. It's not that hard for me.
Yeah I like that more of these modern events have the separate 2 or 3 issue tie-in series rather than interrupting every ongoing. And for those with active tie-ins like X-Men, Captain Marvel, etc it at least makes sense.
Yeah, about 30-40% of the tie-ins have been *ahem* pruned. It's still bloated, but should be a much more digestible event now.
I dug it. Good art overall despite a couple wonky panels. Fun story for sure. Writing was hit and miss - "Fresh Prince" reference?! Having read the four (4?!?) prelude issues I still feel like it was too much walking into the middle of the story here. Where did the whole Hulkling story take place?

Yeah, I read that. Seemed to really skim over with no details. Definitely nothing about building his circle.
Still to early to really tell if this is going to be good, or just meh like the last few Marvel big events.
I for one plan on only reading the tie ins for series I am already reading and nothing more.
I've ordered this issue just to try it. But my expectation is about the same. Unless this is a really spectacular issue i expect to only pick up a couple of the tie in's. I was going to read Union but that's apparently cancelled. I was put off of these events with the 1st civil war.
I thought the first issue was absolutely brilliant! Loved it. Cant wait to see where it goes.
I assumed the Fresh Prince line was a Slott contribution. It's right out of his wheelhouse.
I thought exactly the same thing. Nothing original from this opening issue. Although we didn't get Avengers vs Fantastic Four. We did get Avengers protecting Cotati. Kree/Skrull saying they're the bad guys and we're the good guys but we aren't going to explain why or how or anything, we're just going to kill them. heroes say no. Then Cotati turn out to be the bad guys. I'm really hoping for something more with issue 2.
Yeah honestly from what I've seen this feels like "just another marvel event". I'm way more excited and can't wait for King in Black at the end of the year, that's going to be awesome.
Even though I saw that ending coming after reading Empyre: Avengers #0 I still really enjoyed this! I’ve been waiting for this event to start for months!
I enjoyed it. Smiled with joy while reading it.
Pretty enjoyable first issue. The reveal that the Cotati was manipulating the Avengers was obvious, but the build up to the reveal was great. The moment you see a Ghost Rider Quinjet was awesome! Action for the issue was exciting as well.
