If you ever questioned Greg Pak's writing ability he just may have redeemed the prequel movies. The emotions in the flashbacks combined with his revenge quest is just perfect. The only thing missing is a visit from Force Ghost Obi-Wan.
Haha, the prequels don’t need redeeming, this is just another perspective on them that I absolutely love. The covers for this series are beautiful!
The love story was horrible (partially the acting, partially the script) but this really helped clean that up. I never felt love in the movies Anakin was trying to get lucky and Padmae was going after a child. This book showed the love between the two in ways the movies didn't.
Interested... The prequels were unwatchable.
You should check this out of all the Star Wars books most of which I've enjoyed this is one that really builds on the story and lore of the movies. Most of these books have avoided directly diving into things that happened in the movies but this askes and answers what did Vader do after he found out Padmae died?
I enjoy the prequels more so than the OT but I honestly have found this arc to be pretty bad. Im not really digging the whole Amidalans thing and the droid is annoying.

Yes sir! Thank you, it’s amazing how the current Lucasfilm team are still developing them even now through comics too. (Don’t think that will be the case with the sequels LOL) Charles Soule’s Vader run is probably my favourite Star Wars comic series.
Sorry, the campy romance in episode 1 with a child and the fact the best villian had zero personality(he wasn't even developed as a good apprentice) plus the addition of a goofy comic relief character who served as a lynch pin to winning the war was ridiculous. The cgi is good it just didn't feel real or gritty enough compared to the original which is one thing I liked about the sequels. The second was marred by acting that I still can't appreciate even my 14 year old pointed out how forced and fake it felt. Episode 3 was ok but due to the lack of believability in the romance it made for less of a dramatic climax than it should have been. Add in there was no suprises or drama that elevated a story we knew the direction of and I will still say it failed.
You can appreciate the genuinely interesting ideas and creativity behind the prequels while not thinking the movies are very good. A lot of stilted writing, wooden acting, and poorly aged special effects just make them harder to watch IMO. It's why I love that games and TV shows and comics are exploring that era more. I truly love the prequel era, I just like that it now has stronger writing to back it up.
Extremely well said @MasterofComicsFu. The prequel movies are not good movies (I can't get through any of Attack of the Clones anymore). Even some of the fundamental story aspects are flawed, but there are some very interesting ideas.
I agree that there were some interesting ideas and as you said it got explored better in other media and that is part of the reason I like this Vader run so much.
Nothing about the Prequels worked for me. Horrible acting and directing with an almost childish screenplay. I love Star Wars. The original film, A New Hope, might have been the first film I ever viewed in a theater. A New Hope changed how movies were made. Then followed up with perhaps the best sequel ever made in The Empire Strikes Back. Return of the Jedi was fun... And as a kid I loved it. As an older viewer now it doesn't seem to hold up as well. The only new Stars Wars I have truly enjoyed since the originals would be Star Wars Rogue One. I say watch Rogue One, A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back.... Sure watch Return of the Jedi. The Force Awakenings was fun... But just a lot of Fan servicing really.
I enjoyed the sequels more than the prequils were they good movies no but were fun and I for one liked what they did with Han and Luke but they didn't do enough with the new main cast.
