History

Opal Vetiver is a member of Hordeculture, a collaborative group of like-minded argochemists, biotechnologists and bioengineers who specialize in the genetic manipulation of—and propagation of—all things botanical. Their goal is the radical depopulation of humanity and the return of the planet to what they would consider a more pristine state. Beyond genetic modifications believed to have been made to themselves, which is unconfirmed outside of a random documented resistance to telepathy, Opal is an expert at manipulating the environment to suit their extinction agenda.

She led the Hordeculture in an incursion to the Krakoan Harvest Center, located in the Savage Land. After a confrontation with Cyclops, White Queen and Sebastian Shaw, they managed to collect samples of the Krakoan genome in order to study it and learn how it worked to convince the living island to support the aims of the Hordeculture or otherwise bend it to their will.

Later, Vetiver was also involved in the Hordeculture's raid on the island of Genosha, within the framework of the Cotati invasion, where they tried to collect samples for study of the alien species. In the process, they fought plants and mutant zombies.
