When Iron Lad came to the present, he found the Avengers Mansion in ruins. He found Vision's body and was able to download Vision's operating system into his own armor. When Iron Lad left to fulfull his necessary role as Kang the Conquerer, he left the armor behind, which Vision's OS took over, creating a new Vision.
