Jacob Finlay

Finlay was the friend and coworker of Arthur Smith. Spurred on by the advent of superheroes, Jacob decided to become one too - Doctor Light. With the company's experimental light technology, he became Doctor Light. One of his first nights, he set out to stop a spy at neighboring S.T.A.R. Labs. Realizing it was Arthur, who had been strong armed into it by a local gang lord, Finlay let him go.

The next morning, Finlay was up early to repair the damage to their light rig. Arthur wanted to talk to him, but accidentally activated the machine - killing Finlay. The death was chalked up to an industrial accident. Jacob's light ghost began to haunt Arthur's dreams, which lead him to don the costume himself. However, he at this point had been corrupted so much that he became a villain instead.
