Nergal was one of John Constantine's arch-enemies, and a powerful demon from hell; his daughter Rosacarnis would eventually sire 3 children (Saul, Maria & Adam) with Constantine, although only Maria would survive.
He was a powerful demon who'd been burned at the stake as a witch's boy after sexually abusing several children, ended up in hell and slowly became one of it's most feared and powerful demons.
