Theodore Parnel a.k.a. "Uncle Ted" was the guardian of Patton Parnel. Social services talked Ted into adopting Patton when Patton's parents died.

When Patton was suffering the after-effects of an irradiated spider bite in his room, Ted burst in to find out why the boy was refusing to leave his room. Patton tried to explain to his uncle that he was sick, but Ted only affirmed that Patton was "sick in the head" and beat him with a belt. That night, Ted came home expecting Patton to have made him dinner, but instead found his home darkened and covered in cocoons. Ted saw Patton crawling on the ceiling, who told Ted that "with great power comes a great appetite" before metamorphosing fangs and pouncing on him.
The following day, Sara Jane found Ted tied to Patton's bed. Ted begged her to kill him as a cluster of spiders burst from his face.
