History

He was convicted of heinous crimes by his peers and was stripped of most of his powers and banished from the Council. He found himself on Earth, where his presence attracted the attention of Starman, who tried to probe the anomalous star with his Cosmic Rod. Aquarius stripped Starman of his Cosmic Rod and regained his full powers. In spite of an attempt by the Justice Society of America to try and stop him, Aquarius attempted to destroy the universe -- and succeeded in eliminating everything except for the assembled Justice Society.

The JSA sent Red Tornado to the parallel universe called Earth-One to recruit the Justice League of America to help battle Aquarius; however, the JLA were caught up in their own cases and were unable to accompany Red Tornado back to Earth-Two until two weeks after his arrival in their universe. Finally coming to the JSA's rescue, the JLA found the JSA in the thrall of Aquarius and had to fight their alternate universe comrades. During the fight, Larry Lance sacrificed his life to save the life of his wife, the Black Canary, from an energy ball hurled by Aquarius. This caused Aquarius to lose control over the JSA and also restored the JSA's universe (Earth-Two) to normal. After the heroes held a funeral for Larry, Aquarius came to battle them once more. Chasing the menace into space, both Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan and Alan Scott, tricked Aquarius into flying into a portal to the Antimatter Universe. With no means of protecting himself from the anti-matter, Aquarius was destroyed, ending his menace.
