John Constantine was the Earth-2 counterpart of John Constantine (who actually ended up ritually sacrificing him); although he lost his life, his sacrifice actually meant his wife, father & best friend all escaped Earth-2's destruction.
He had been a Liverpool native who'd spent his youth in a rock band alongside his life long friends Chas Chandler and Gary Lester. Eventually, he settled down, marrying Maureen and retired to Liverpool where he also got time to spent time with his parents Thomas and Mary Anne.
