The Avengers are a team of superheroes created by Marvel Comics. They made their first appearance in The Avengers 1 following the debut Justice League of America by DC Comics’. Marvel fanatics know who exactly these heroes are. But to the average person, the heroes that compose The Avengers can be a little confusing. Who exactly are The Avengers?
By their own, these heroes are a force to reckon with. But together they are unbeatable. Dubbed as the “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes”, The Avengers are composed of Ant-Man, Iron Man, Wasp, Hulk and Thor. They were joined by Captain America after they revived him.

Ant-Man (Hank Pym). Ant-Man is a scientist turned superhero by the persona of Hank Pym. He became a superhero when he discovered a substance that could permit him to alter his size. Using a helmet that could command ants, he would shrink down to an insect’s size and solve complicated mysteries.
Iron Man (Tony Stark). Ingenious engineer and billionaire playboy Tony Stark plays the character of Iron Man. He ended up being a superhero after a severe chest wound forced him to create a make-shift heart to preserve his life. He also created a suit of armor to protect him during his escape from his captors. This powerful suit became his main weapon in fighting the forces of evil.
The Wasp (Janet Van Dyne). The Avengers was founded primarily by this heroine. The Wasp has the ability to shift sizes and fly by the use of insectoid wings. Her main offensive weapon is her fire energy blasts.
The Hulk (Dr. Bruce Banner). The Hulk was inspired by the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. It depicts the transformation of physicist Dr. Bruce Banner from reserved and withdrawn to impulsive and emotional. The change was brought on after he was exposed the gamma bomb. [Not pictured]
Thor. The fictional superhero, Thor, is based on Norse mythology. He is a powerful God that has the ability to fly and defeat opponents with the use of his mighty hammer. Thor has been a member of The Avengers and associated with several Marvel series.
Captain America (Steve Rogers). Captain America was born when frail young Steve Rogers decided to be part of an experiment that was supposed to enhance human strength and function. The serum was a success and Captain America came into being. From being a nobody Steve quickly became the fastest and strongest man in the army garnering the admiration of many and the rancor of his enemies.
