Comic book writer, Scott Snyder, may be best known for his current run on DC Comics' Batman series, but before that he was garnering critical praise with his Vertigo series, American Vampire. His history in the comic book industry precedes the two, however. Snyder's first foray into the industry began with a Marvel Comics one-shot focusing on the first Human Torch, part of Marvel's 70th anniversary celebrations. He later wrote the 4-issue miniseries, Iron Man: Noir, which debuted in April 2010.
Following his time with Marvel, Snyder's creator-owned series, American Vampire, was picked up by Image Comics in March 2010. American Vampire went on to win the 2011 Eisner Award for Best New Series, as well as the 2011 Harvey Award for Best New Series. This, of course, led to DC Comics signing Snyder to an exclusive contract, in which he would begin writing stories featuring Batman and Swamp Thing.
