At the beginning of 2010, the downloadable content for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 was pulled from both Xbox Live and the Playstation Network, leaving many gamers confused. After all, why would Activision and Vicarious Visions stop them from being able to play as Cable, Psylocke, Magneto, Carnage, Black Panther, and from earning the new achievements. Was it a rights issue? Possibly, but Activision stood by their statement saying, "The Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Downloadable Content was a limited time offer, expiring on December 31, 2009." Until today. MUA2 Fans begged for them to return the DLC to the marketplace and Activision is finally answering those pleas by bringing the DLC back... for a limited time.
They expect the downloadable content to arrive on XBL and PSN sometime before July 4th at its old price of 800 Microsoft Points ($9.99). The package includes the 5 characters listed above along with four new challenge missions, including all-new boss encounters, dangerous gauntlets and more. Make sure to buy it soon before they pull it back down. There's no telling how long it will last. I suspect at least up to San Diego Comic Con.
For those waiting on a Gold or Game of the Year edition, it looks like that will not be happening, you'll have to just pick up the base game and purchase the DLC to get all of the content. It appears they are focusing all of their efforts on the upcoming X-Men RPG. Unfortunately no details on that title are available at this time.
