Another day, another Marvel NOW! spotlight, this time it's the new Deadpool series from the writing duo of Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan and artist Tony Moore (The Walking Dead).
Last week, when Marvel first began teasing their new books, fans were curious what newcomers Posehn and Duggan would bring to the table on Deadpool. Today, IGN learned that the comedic duo will be bringing all kinds of mayhem to the Marvel Universe that only the Merch with a Mouth is equipped to face. Duggan elaborates:
"It starts with a man who has decided that America has a lot of problems that can only be fixed by bringing back our former leaders, our great American Presidents. But that's not how it works out. Once they're back, they have a completely different idea of what they need to do and what the country needs. It's a distasteful job having to send our presidents back, but Deadpool is up for the job and is suited for it. They're not equal in terms of their planning, but in their own way they have returned corrupted. We think it's going to be a very fun first story that leads to other funny stories."
Posehn and Duggan have some pretty big plans for the character beyond that, with the intention of sticking around long-term despite their busy stand-up comedy and television careers. Artist Tony Moore certainly knows Deadpool has a lot of craziness ahead of him, as is evident in the updated costume he's given the character below:
