Katie Cassidy cast as Dinah Lance in The CW's Arrow

In the past two weeks, The CW has really filled out the cast for their Green Arrow TV series, Arrow. They've cast actor Stephen Amell (Private Practice) in the role of Oliver Queen, David Ramsey (Blue Bloods) as John Diggle, and just yesterday they signed Susanna Thompson (NCIS) to play Moira Queen. Today, Deadline reports that Katie Cassidy (Supernatural) will star as the female lead, Dinah "Laurel" Lance, in Arrow when filming for the pilot begins.

Dinah Lance is, of course, the alter-ego of Black Canary in the DC comic books. Judging from the character breakdowns that were leaked a few weeks back, it's still unclear whether or not she'll don the fishnets for the show. She was described as a smart, sexy, 28 year old legal aid attorney determined to use her life as a one-woman war against the 1% following the death of her younger sister Sara. A sister, who as luck would have it, just so happened to have died aboard Oliver’s yacht.

Cassidy is no stranger to the network, having starred in Gossip Girl, Melrose Place, Harper's Island, and Supernatural. She'll join the cast for the David Nutter-directed pilot. Arrow is being written/executive produced by Andrew Kreisberg, Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim.
