DC Universe Online's Third DLC brings The Battle For Earth

As we shared with you last week, DC Universe Online's next big downloadable content pack will bring the final confrontation with Brainiac and his Avatar of Magic on the Island of Themyscira. Today, they made it official and revealed that the game's third DLC, entitled "The Battle for Earth", will also feature a new alert, new Duos, missions, and a new Earth powerset giving players devastating geokinesis abilities.

Earth Powers will be the ninth powerset for DCUO players, giving them the option of using the new earth-shaking abilities in either tank or damage roles. For tanks, the team at SOE have created a new tanking mechanic that defers damage to a player's constructs and automatons through Geokinesis. Shape the earth to crush your enemies and reinforce yourself and allies as a tank or use seismic abilities to control the ground below your enemies for massive damage.

The new abilities will come in handy in the new raid content, based in Themyscira. Wonder Woman and the rest of the Amazons of the island are allowing visitors to help defend their paradise against Brainiac's constructs. Before facing off against the Avatar of Magic, players will take on Chimeric Brainiacs, Cyclops, Hydra, and Colossus.

Meanwhile, South Gotham will need the help of the heroes and villains as Brainiac's final assault threatens to take over the city. The district will feature new missions, a new Alert based in the South Gotham Courthouse, and new Duos for players.

Lastly, everything will culminate in "The Prime Battleground", an epic battle in which they must fight all three of Brainiac's newly completed Prime Avatars, and then Brainiac himself. Heroes will fight for the safety of the Earth and its inhabitants, while Villains will want to defeat Brainiac and expand the influence of evil across the planet.

"The Battle for Earth" will be available soon for $9.99 in the PS3 and PC in-game marketplace, while Legendary subscribers will get to experience the DLC for free.
