DC Comics continues to revisit their old ways with the announcement of Annual comics beginning this May.
Written by Scott Lobdell and Fred Defalco, with art from Brett Booth, DC's first Annual issue, Teen Titans Annual #1, will bring forth a massive crossover that weaves together stories from Teen Titans, Superboy, Legion Lost, and the upcoming The Ravagers ongoing series. The mega-sized one-shot will delve into some of the lingering subplots from the individual books, like that Colony where Harvest and N.O.W.H.E.R.E. have kept hundreds of teenagers. Meanwhile, we'll get to see the Teen Titans face off against the Legion and Lobdell and Defalco will also introduce some of the Ravagers.
That same month, Jeff Lemire and newcomer artist, Timothy Green II, will release Animal Man Annual #1. The lengthy comic is a crossover between Animal Man and Swamp Thing, but a completely optional standalone for fans who want a deeper dive into the mythology of The Red, The Green, and The Rot. Animal Man artist Travel Foreman's cover art can be seen below.
Last, but not least, fans will get to experience Mister Freeze's first appearance in the New 52 with Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV's Batman Annual #1. Jay Fabok will contribute his skills as the artist for the issue, as Snyder and Tynion dig into Freeze’s psyche and origin, and somehow tying him into the Court of Owls as the Night of the Owls event blossoms in the Bat-family books.
Stay tuned for more Annual comic announcements, as DC is surely to reveal more over the coming weeks.
