As the African arm of Batman Incorporated, Batwing has had very few dealings with the dark knight himself. In a recent issue of Judd Winick's Batwing, our hero, David Zavimbe, learned of Massacre's plans to hunt down heroes from the Kingdom. With two of them hiding out in Gotham City, he's going to find out pretty quickly that Gotham's secret society, the Court of Owls, have their sights set on anyone sporting the symbol of the Bat. And it's all part of Scott Snyder's epic Batman crossover "Night of the Owls" that begins this summer in DC's Batman-family books, Batwing included.
To help usher in the Night of the Owls in Batwing, artist Marcus To (Huntress) is coming on board to bring Winick's vision to the page. The announcement came earlier today, just shortly after the reveal of the publisher's plans to have Gregg Hurwitz (Penguin: Pain & Prejudice) join the Batman: The Dark Knight creative team.
Batwing #7 and #8 will supposedly wrap up the current Massacre storyline with Batwing #9 focusing squarely on his dealings with Batman, "Talon" and the Court of Owls. To get you psyched about the crossover, the Source blog released a preview of To's cover artwork for Batwing #9 below.
