The March 2012 issue of Empire Magazine will be sporting some Avengers movie covers. Scarlet Johansson (Black Widow), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) will all receive their own covers, in addition to an exclusive subscribers-only cover featuring the four of them together.
Inside is an exclusive, access-all-areas set report that took place during the Cleveland portion of filming. There's some interesting tidbits and official "confirmation" as to who's involved in terms of the villains.
If you recall from the ending of the Captain America: The First Avenger movie, the Red Skull vanishes after his battle with Cap. Did he die or did he get transported elsewhere? It's been on everyone's minds, especially in regards to rumors that the character would be in The Avengers. Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige put it bluntly, "It would be fun to see Skull in future, but he’s not in this one.”
And what about the aliens in the film. Are the Skrulls involved in some form? Speaking to Empire, Feige said, "Who said they were aliens? It’s not Skrulls, I’ve been clear about that. Beyond that, we want to hide it. The identity of the alien race is not impactful. It exists in the comic books, but we’re not setting up the Kree-Skrull war or anything like that.”
