Update Eight Goes Live as DCUO Celebrates its One Year Anniversary

Sony Online Entertainment continue to impress with the launch of the eighth update to DC Universe Online, further expanding on the game's character customization system with crafting and equipment mods.

Free and Paid players will both receive access to the new Research & Development features. Explore Gotham, Metropolis, and Central City to garner Exobits that can be used to create equipment mods with various stats and consumables to help during your Duos, Alerts, and Raids. Salvage your old armor and other loot drops to forge crafting materials that can be reused. No longer will players have endless supply of money in DCUO, that's for sure. You can read more about in last week's announcement.

Interestingly, this week marks the one year anniversary for the free-to-play massive multiplayer online game, a big milestone for any game in that market not named World of Warcraft. And to thank players for their support, SOE will be giving away a free in-game cape with a 1 on it (seen below). All you'll need to do is login after Wednesday.
