Even with the Zack Snyder-directed Man of Steel more than half-way through filming, a new addition has been made to the cast. Variety reports that The West Wing's Richard Schiff has signed on to play the role of Dr. Hamilton.
One could guess that Dr. Hamilton is based on Professor Emil Hamilton, a brilliant scientist and inventor who had once worked for STAR Labs and the Government. In the comics, there were times when Hamilton assisted Superman and had even been the one to create the Phantom Zone projector, a device that allowed Superman to view into the Phantom Zone where General Zod and other villains were imprisoned. Would he play a similar role in Man of Steel?
In addition to starring in The West Wing, Schiff was also seen recently on Once Upon a Time, Up All Night, and White Collar. Though, the actor has had a long history of television and film appearances.
