With the recent switch to Free to Play and the announcement of the Lightning Strikes downloadable content, many have been curious how DC Universe Online is doing. Talking about the game's growth and recent success, Sony Online Entertainment's President, John Smedley, took to Twitter to give some figures.
Since the switch, the revenue appears to have increased by 700% per day, with an almost an even split between platforms (PC and PS3). And as players are finding out when hopping into the game's servers, the playerbase has grown as well, at about a 6% increase per day. Of the ones that log in each day, 85% are returning players.
More interestingly, it seems those players are taking to the game's in-game store quite well, purchasing items often. Smedley added that the additional character slots and the Vanguard of the Heavens skin are among the top sellers in the cash shop.
That's good news, it's never been a better time for SOE and their MMO, DC Universe Online.
