While I am really not digging the art on this issue, I can look past it because I love this series. Jason Aaron has completely stepped out of the shadow of Greg Pak's run and made Incredible Hulk his own, unique book.

The mystery behind who split Hulk and Banner has been solved, but apart from that, The Incredible Hulk #5 just isn’t very good.

I suppose the closest thing it resembles is a bad B movie. And I do not mean “bad” in the “so bad it’s good” sense that often characterize B-movies. This is bad in the “it takes itself way too seriously and ends up looking foolish for it” sense.

Virgins on prom night have done less procrastinating than Aaron has in this series. It’s maddening how bad issue #5 is. The only thing that could have saved the Hulk was art from Marc Silvestri, alas that is not to be.

If only the art this issue was on the same level as the story
-
Issue #5 begins to address the problems the book has faced thus far, but for the time being Incredible Hulk remains emotionally hollow.
-
Incredible Hulk #5 is a quick fun read, but is a bit of a letdown on the art front.
