Snyder and Tuft are writing a textbook on how to do horror/suspense, perfecting a formula capable of delivering goosebumps via any narrative medium.

There’s a remarkable level of restraint and sophistication that makes this comic a realistic read. It doesn’t go over the top with gore and shock, and when it delivers scares they are genuinely bloodcurdling. I can’t recommend this series enough.

Given my historical dislike of the horror genre, you'd think I wouldn't have made it this far. But I have, and I want more, and I think that is the best compliment any book could receive.
-
This is a great miniseries and I fully expect the creators to nail the landing next month.

The writing is as sharp as the Salesman's teeth; the artwork is strikingly beautiful; and the story makes it almost a necessity to wear a diaper when diving in. That's a perfect storm when it comes to horror comics.
-
Scott Snyder has conceived a true American horror story that never seems over the top with the right amount of intense moments, nightmarish antagonists, and the feeling that Jack is so helpless at times.
